Tiny Dog is Big Hero When Hearing-Impaired Owner’s House Catches Fire

One little Chihuahua-mix didn’t let his size get in the way of a big rescue. Lillian Miller, a 58-year-old Florida resident, had removed her hearing aids when she went to bed last weekend, and although the fire alarm started going off around 3 a.m., she continued to sleep peacefully. That is, until her dog, Spaz, barked loudly enough to wake her up.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Miller took the dog out, thinking he just needed a late-night potty break (who hasn’t needed one of those from time to time?), but when she turned back to her mobile home, she saw flames coming from the windows. Miller’s mother, Eudora, credits the pooch with saving her daughter’s life, adding that although they don’t know Spaz’ age, he’s “cute as can be.”

Carol Christopherson, President of Florida Service Dogs, Inc., said, “Those [in the deaf and hard of hearing community] who have pets often report that their animals (whether trained or not) either bark at them or paw at them to communicate. Dogs are reactive in nature, and since they don’t understand the English language, their world is all visual, like a deaf person.”

On a side note, trained hearing dogs really do some amazing things. Deana Welch-Dale, a teaching consultant for the deaf and hard of hearing, has seen dogs that alert to their owners name in busy and loud environments. Additionally, they can pay for items at the grocery store, grab a drink from the fridge, even call 911 in the event of an emergency!

May 20, 2009 - Leave a Response

Yesterday I told you about how Tony Hawk came into my work and surprised the bejesus out of me. Well, today I saw him again! He must really like going to [censored]. This time I actually talked to him a bit more. Really nice guy. Some bitches took pictures with him of course, and I would have too but I was busy working and didn’t have my camera in hand. Too bad I know.

Mr. Hawk-  come in to my work anytime. You’re more than welcome! haha.

Today’s Celebrity Sighting

May 18, 2009 - Leave a Response

tony hawk

Today around 8PM in Midtown Manhattan, I met none other than Tony Hawk! I just love meeting celebrities! Specially when it’s so unexpected. That is one thing I like about where I work, and that is seeing celebrities frequently. Like for example, last Friday afternoon Cedric The Entertainer walked in and sat at the bar to have an appetizer.

When you see these celebrities in person, doing their every day stuff, you see them like normal ordinary people. When you see them on TV, they put on an act almost, they do their thing, so that is why they seem so normal-acting when they are not on the spotlight. Like Cedric The Entertainer at my work- he was so into himself, quiet, enjoying himself. It was like, Why are you not telling jokes? being the center of attention? Well, that is their time to be themselves.

Who I really want to meet is Sarah Jessica Parker. That should be easy because she actually lives here! Can’t wait till they start taping the new Sex And The City movie!

Vegas Baby!

May 3, 2009 - One Response
jetBlue Airways
Friday May 1st  ……….  JFK to LAS
Saturday May 2nd ….. LAS to JFK

That is what I did this weekend. I went on a little trip to Vegas! Thanks to a friend of mine, I was able to get a “buddy pass” from jetBlue. Friday morning my friend told me he could get me the pass, so later that same day, we took off from JFK Airport to Las Vegas baby! It was very last minute, it wasn’t planned at all.

After some flight delay issues at JFK, we didn’t get to Vegas till around 1 AM! We checked in at the hotel and headed out the door to do some gambling and start drinking! The night was young and we were ready to go crazy! After all, it was Vegas! We mainly hanged out at the Paris Hotel. After much drinking and some gambling, we found ourselves hungry and decided to head to a buffet at around 8AM.

We didn’t get to sleep at all while in Vegas. I mean, we were there only for like a day, so sleeping wasn’t in my plans. I like it how in Vegas you can drink 24/7. Vegas is the Disneyland for adults, no doubt.

Even though I was only gone for a day, when I came back to New York it felt like if  I was gone for a week. It felt good to come back home. God I love this city. Don’t get me wrong though, we had so much fun, we saw a lot of hotties, and we love Las Vegas!

So Long, Pontiac!

April 29, 2009 - 3 Responses

Sad, sad news. GM has announced that Pontiac will no longer exist after 2010, thanks to financial troubles. It is truly sad specially for us who had a Pontiac at the garage at one point of our lives. Actually, my first car ever was a Pontiac.

I grew up with the fascination of the Pontiac Grand Prix. I used to love that model. Thankfully my desires got fulfilled a couple of years ago when I got  a 2001 Grand Prix. Pretty sweat car I must say. Since I live in New York City now I no longer need to drive, therefore miss my little ol’ Grand Prix.

Defently is clear that nothing lasts forever. Pontiac brought us great cars, like the Firebird, Grand Am and Grand Prix. Now it’s leaving us behind with those great cars and great memories. We will miss you Pontiac!!!

My First Dolce & Gabbana!

April 19, 2009 - One Response

I recently obtained my very own Dolce & Gabbana item! And they are not fake either. They are these very cool prescription glasses. I just felt like I needed a new look. I might look like a nerd but I’m a hot nerd if anything. Haha. Oh and I’m liking the hair cut so far.

What do you think of my new look? Do you feel the glasses? How about the new hairdo?

I was on the subway the other day and saw this girl with a sign that said: “PEOPLE NEED JOBS”. She probably went to a protest somewhere?

I checked out the website that the ad advertises and it’s pretty cool. It’s Your Financial Crisis Headquarters Check it out.

Name That Actor!

March 17, 2009 - Leave a Response

So my very last post I talked about how I met a cast member from the TV show Gossip Girls and expressed my joy of living in New York due to the fact that you can run across a celebrity anywhere really. I also ended that post saying: “I love the unexpected. Who knows who I will get to meet tomorrow”.

Well, today I got to meet yet another celebrity. Two days in a row. Pretty normal for NYC I think. Today I met cutie Joshua Jackson from Dawson’s Creek.

When I first saw him I wasn’t completely sure it was him because I only remember him from Dawson’s Creek and that was a long time ago. After a while I had to make sure it was him so I asked him- “Are you an actor?”

Pretty retarded I know but I didn’t know what to ask since I wasn’t sure what was his real name. He just responded with a chuckle saying “Yeah”. Pretty cute guy I must say!

Hmmm…

Wonder who I will get to meet tomorrow! Ha ha.

Just A Normal Day In NYC

March 17, 2009 - One Response

Today early morning as I arrived to my work I see all these trailers parked, as in actors’ trailers. I assumed they were going to film some movie. Though later, I find out that they were filming the TV show Gossip Girls. I got kind of excited because I knew that dreamy actor Chace Crawford was going to be around.

Later in the day, hottie Penn Badgley from the show came into my work and I got to talk to him! He’s gorgeous but kind of a dick. I don’t know, that was just my impression from him. He came in with some bodyguard. I was like, really? Some other ho came in as well and claimed she was in the show, but since I don’t watch this show I didn’t know who she was, plus I don’t care that much about pussy.

Actor Penn Badgley attends the Entertainment Weekly & Vavoom Annual Upfront Party at the Bowery Hotel on May 13, 2008 in New York City.

At the end of the day I didn’t get to see Chace, but again I was at work stuck inside missing out all the fun going on outside.

When I first saw all the trailers I didn’t get that excited, partially because when living in New York you get used to seeing all this stuff. Some New Yorkers actually get annoyed or don’t even care anymore when passing a famous person or a movie set. I think I will never get to that point because I love it all. I love seeing famous people, I love being present when a movie/show is being filmed, and I love being in front of cameras for some reason.

I love the unexpected. Who knows who I will get to meet tomorrow.
