So as you may know, I joined a couple of groups from Meetup.com for doggy play dates. Well, last Saturday Rocky and I went to our first one! It was for Halloween! So yeah, that means all doggies were wearing costumes, even Rocky! He went as a pirate, and guess what? he won 2nd place! He looked so cute. He won this cute squeaky stuffed animal with the piggy pooch, the lil’ teddy bear was just a gift from the organizer. What sucked is that Rocky’s costume was a little big for him and it couldn’t stay on for long, so he only wore it for a short time. There was other cute costumes as well, like the first place was won by the panda! It was so cute. Rocky really seemed like he was enjoying himself. I am looking forward to another meet-up so he can play with other doggies!

Rocky, New York’s Chi

So just a quick update on Rocky and how he’s adapting to New York.

He seems to be getting used to all the people, movement, noises, etc. He doesn’t like totally freak out at all, which that’s good. The one thing that I do notice is that he ends up really tired after a long day out on the streets. I been taking him with me everywhere! I think tonight is the first time I will let him be in the apartment. He my cry but he has to know that I will not always be around.

I would say that 90% of the people on the streets go crazy over Rocky. I have heard people call him “taco”, today some dude called him “tinkerbell”, and if you didn’t know that was Paris Hilton’s Chihuahua. Rocky is so much cuter though!

I have yet to take him to the Chihuahua meet-up groups. That is going to be interesting I think. The next one I believe is on Oct 3rd, not sure yet. It would be nice for him to find a girlfriend! haha.

I’ll post pics as soon as I take some! I’ve been wanting to take pics but I don’t have a camera! I only have a video camera and one cable that I need in order to get that video to my computer I forgot in St. Louis! I am screwed for the moment. I’ll try to find that cable soon so you can see video of Rocky walking the streets of SoHo! that was fun.

Last Vet Visit

8/4/08

For a while anyway. Today he got his Rabies shot. I also got his history report from the vet, as we are moving to NYC pretty soon! Rocky is done with vet visits for a while now. He’s so happy about that! Ha ha.

Ear Mites, Still!

7/28/08

So Rocky has been scratching his ears and shaking his head like crazy. I didn’t think it was ear mites because I have already given him Revolution twice before. Well, it turns out that he still has ear mites. Today the vet checked him out and said that Revolution doesn’t kill all stages of ear mites the first time. He told me to give him Revolution again today, and another in three weeks. Poor little guy!

PS- Today he also got his vaccine and he was such a good boy! ha ha.

Obedience Classes

So yesterday Rocky started his 8-class obedience school at Petsmart. I don’t know why, but I got the feeling that he’s not going to get much out of it. In class, when I was supposed to give him a treat, he didn’t want it, and before that, the instructor also tried to give him a different treat, and he didn’t want it either. How am I suppose to reward him for something in class if he doesn’t want treats! I might take fruit or some shit as treats because the regular treats won’t do the trick. He also was a bit scared though, I mean, there were much bigger dogs in the class. We’ll see how he does next Saturday.

Rocky At Day Care

The first time Rocky got vaccinated, he got an allergic reaction to it, his whole face got swollen. So, since today he is getting vaccinated for the second time, the vet recommended me that I drop him off in the morning and leave him there till the afternoon so they can keep an eye on him. They have him some benedryl before the vaccination so it would help.

I hope he does ok today. I miss my baby!

UPDATE: He came home ok! Thankfully he didn’t have the allergic reaction again.

New Menu

6/16/08

So I felt bad that Rocky was only eating his boring dry food, and seeing that he didn’t like it that much, I decided to get him something new. A couple of days ago I started to give him Gerber! Yeah, baby food! He seems to like it so far. Specially the one that has beef & Chicken.

Ear Mites!

Rocky has ear mites ya’ll! Not sure when it started, but he kept scratching his ears, and around them too, so because of all the scratching he went bald on the back of his ear, look at the pic to see what I mean (and yeah that is Rocky playing with my shoe!).

So I took him to the vet and he got “Revolution”. That is a medication that is good against heartworms, ear mites, fleas, ticks, and all that junk. The vet even showed me the ear mites through his mini-scope. Gross! Damn those ear mites!

UPDATE: 6/16/08.

It has been a few days since I took Rocky to the vet and he’s still scratching! poor baby. Today we went back to the vet and he says the ear mites are gone, but he gave me some medication that would help with the irritation from the scratching to see if that would help. Hope that helps!
