Hotel LaGuardia

December 25, 2008 · 1 Comment

What an experience it was flying out of LaGuardia Airport on Christmas eve! It felt like I wasn’t going to make it to St. Louis for Christmas, but thankfully I did.. barely. It felt like a nightmare, but a few good things came out from it too.

It all started on Tuesday morning, when I originally was supposed to fly out.  My flight was  for 8.20 AM, and for some reason my alarm didn’t go off and woke up at 7 AM! I seriously thought if I hurried I would make it just barely. I got to the Airport at around 7.40 and to my surprise, the lines to check in bags were looooong as hell. One line even went out the door and outside the terminal. My little chances of making my flight went away at that time. I was in line between one and two hours, and of course by that time I already missed my flight. The lady at the counter put me on standby for the next flight to St. Louis, which was at 11.40 AM. I thought: “great, no problem, just a couple of hours late”. Yeah Right! I had no idea what was ahead of me.

I was on standby for the whole day, and as the last flight of the day was “over sold” like the rest of them, I had to wait till early next morning to continue to be on standby. But on that last flight that day, that’s where I met these cool girls that were also on standby because they missed their flight like I did early that day. Their names were Kathy, Maggie, Chin, and Michelle. We got to talking and we started to plan to drive to St. Louis! that’s how desperate we were to get out of there. We thought of doing this because there was no hope in sight for us anytime soon. We were number 11, 15, 17, etc. on the standby list and seeing how every flight was “over booked”, we knew we had no chance. That’s another thing I don’t understand. How can a flight be “over booked”? How can the airline sell more seats than they actually have? It doesn’t make sense.

We tried to get car rental on the airport but they didn’t have any available. Typical for this time of year. We also knew that the weather wouldn’t be very nice through out our way there driving so we decided to look into greyhound. It was I think $200 something per ticket, and the trip on the bus lasted more than 24 hours I believe. It was crazy. We had no choice but to wait till next day. We decided to stay at the airport overnight because we figured we would only be going home for like four hours so it wasn’t worth going. How uncomfortable it was to sleep at the airport by the way! Lots of people stayed the night there too.

At arounf 11PM Michelle, Kathy, Chin, and myself were at the food court just tired as hell with little sleep, getting some food, and feeling sorry for eachother. At one point, Michelle and I were sitting on one table, and she was playing with Rocky as one lady approached us and asked us if we wanted to be filmed with Rocky for the Fox news as she was doing some report on the holiday travel. We moved tables so the camera got a better shot of us and I believe we were on the news the following morning.

The following morning the 6 am, 8.20 am, and 11.40 am flights were all over booked and we couldn’t get in any of them. I was really worried at that time. I didn’t think I was going to make it to St. Louis for Christmas. Before the 2 PM flight came around, I met these three cool guys which I had a couple of beers with at the bar. I needed alcohol to help me with the stress! These guys were also going to St. Louis and were also on standby. These guys and the girls I met they all lived in New York, so you can say I made a few new friends from this experience.

The 2 PM flight came by and I was standing there a bit buzzed waiting to see if they were going to take standbys. This time I was NUMBER ONE on the standby list so I was feeling pretty optimistic. They only took ONE standby and thankfully it was me! I was very relieved. I was going home for Christmas! I don’t know what I was going to do if I didn’t get on that flight. The guys and I were probably keep drinking our sorrows away.

I got to St. Louis at around 7pm. My dad picked me up from the airport. As soon as I got home I took a shower that I oh so needed, and started to drink up some wine and chill with the family.

Oh Let It Snow!

December 19, 2008 · Leave a Comment

This is my first winter in New York and today it’s the first time I see it snow here. I only like snow when I don’t have to go out, and thankfully today is my day off! I had planned stuff for today but thanks to the shitty weather I’m having second thoughts…

Anyway here’s a picture of the snow from my bedroom window-

Video: New York Fall ‘08

December 18, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Wow I haven’t posted in a while. I’ve just been busy with work really. Sorry about that! But here’s a video I made about New York, of course. It’s just random clips from the time I arrived three months ago till recently. Rocky makes a couple cameo appearances as well.

Oh and I can’t wait for Christmas! Next week I will be traveling to St. Louis to visit the family. I need some time off. Then comes New Years. Not sure what I am going to do yet, but I really want to experience being in Times Square for it. At least once. I will probably end up hating the idea like every New Yorker but I want to try it for the experience, you know?

Anyway, hope you like the video. Let me know what you think!

Saw Nina Garcia At Work

December 7, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Yeap! that bitch came into my work  Saturday. I was like- “Nina Garcia??”, and then she smiled and laughed. She was so cute. All covered up for the fucking cold. This was the highlight of my day… Meeting Nina Garcia.

That is what I love about New York. It’s so unpredictable. Like for last Wednesday for instance, Britney Spears and her kids were right across the street of where I work. Tons of people and paparazzi outside the store she was in. I can’t believe I was so close to brit brit. My heart almost stopped.

So Far So Good

December 5, 2008 · 1 Comment

With so many things going on since I arrived to New York a little over two months ago, I haven’t stopped and really think of my situation I am on in this part of my life right now. I mean about me living in New York City.

Recently I realized of how fucking lucky I am to be here, being part of it all. So many people dream of visiting NY, and many more would kill to live here. The city is just incredible. Whenever I walk the streets I think to myself how beautiful and how unpredictable this city is.

How did I get here? Why am I here? I am a believer that everything happens for a reason, and that I am here for just that, just don’t know what that reason is yet. Last year when I was living here and then I had to move back to St. Louis, I didn’t understand how I was leaving the city which I believed had something in store for me. I thought that leaving meant not coming back again.

Now I understand that I had to go back to St. Louis. It’s destiny. This time around things are a little different. I have grown, and therefore see things differently.

In New York you get to meet a lot of interesting people. That is what I like. I like making friendships with people that have a good head in their shoulders. No druggies, no bums, no losers in my life.

I only been here a couple of months, but I feel like I am doing pretty well so far generally. Hopefully soon I will be moving in into an apartment with a friend of mine. That should be exciting. Oh the fun we will have, we being two single ladies in the big city.

I still have yet to find that one special guy. Many people have told me that I’m too young to be looking for love, but let me confess something now. Believe it or not, I have never had a boyfriend. Sad but true. I still have that to experience.

I am sure I have great moments ahead of me in this city as well as many more new friendships. Keep tuned as I go through the journey of life and share with you the good, the bad, and the ugly moments that will come my way. As Carrie from Sex and the City said:

So maybe it won’t look like you thought it would in high school, but it’s important to remember that love is possible. Anything is possible. This is New York.

Think about it. It totally makes sense! It would be amazing if it actually came true- ‘Gay marriage saves the U.S.!’ Dream on Alex, dream on.

Watch this funny clip from FunnyorDie.com, starring Jack Black! Love it when the black lady keeps saying “Obama-nation!” )

Kissing Another Man

Kissing another man takes me to the sky.

Kissing another man is insanely enjoyable.

Kissing another man fulfills my desires.

Kissing another man usually gives me a hard on.

Whenever we put our lips together, play with eachother’s tongue, touch eachother all over the body, Knowing you are into me and knowing I’m into you… is incredibly hot and incredibly romantic. the greatest thing two guys can do together, besides fucking.

I guess what I’m trying to say is…

Kissing is a beautiful thing.
