Pursuit Of Happiness

This semester in my psychology class, I had an assignment that consisted of watching the movie “the pursuit of happyness” and then write a paper about it answering some series of questions set by the teacher. By the way, the movie almost made me cry at the end. It was that emotional. Hey, real man cry! haha.

It got me thinking, we are all searching for happiness, even though ”happiness” might mean something different for different people. But generally, we might think that this feeling, or state of mind we call happiness, is a goal. But in reality, it’s a never-ending pursuit. I believe it to be so because when we think we have reached that high point, we want more. Therefore, we set another goal and if we reach that goal, we want more and are never fully satisfied. Do you agree? I also think that pursuing happiness has to do with trying to reach the point of being self-actualized.

So, what is your goal in life? Have you reached happiness, or are you still pursuing it? Most importantly, What does happiness mean for YOU? Feel free to share your thoughts!

Here is a paragraph of the paper I did for the movie “pursuit of happyness”:

As I have explained here, I believe that happiness is both a goal and a pursuit. For me, pursuing happiness means reaching and achieving financial and emotional stability. It also means finding love. But it is important to remember that happiness means different things for other people, and speaking of being financially secure, I do believe that money equals happiness in most cases, not all. I have experienced happiness in many occasions in my life. That includes having enough money in the bank, having good friends, travels I have done, being close to my family, and things to that effect. All these goals I have pursued, and still pursue for more of the same happiness. For example, I would like to travel more, and make new friends. Whatever happiness means to different people, we are all searching for it one way or another.
